Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
